Don’t underestimate women entrepreneurs. There are women behind almost every high power organization. Sheryl Sandberg is an example of a powerful business leader. She is the chief operating officer of Facebook and she is our terrific woman this Tuesday!

Sheryl went to Harvard for her bachelor’s degree in economics and graduated summa cum laude. She then attended Harvard business school and immediately received a job in the U.S. Department of the Treasury during the Clinton administration.

In 2000, Sheryl worked for Google for seven years. She was Google’s vice president of global online sales and operations. That means Sheryl was responsible for managing online sales of advertising and publishing products. She worked for Google until 2008 and was considered one of the top executives in the country. That recognition showed that she doesn’t work any less than a man. Sheryl works just as hard and proficient, and maybe a little better.

After the Google chapter in her life came to an end, Sheryl joined Facebook as the company’s chief operating officer. She oversees Facebook’s business operation, sales management, business development, human resources, marketing, public policy, and communications. I find it so inspiring how she started off with a high position when entering Facebook, but it get better! In 2012 Sheryl became the first female member of the company’s board of directors. Wow!

Sheryl is also the author of a bestseller, Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead, which has more than one million copies. Her book inspired what is now a global community group, LeanIn.org, which Sheryl founded to support women striving to reach their goals and ambitions. Sheryl is a wonderful role model to have, because although she is a powerful business leader, she also aims to help other women so they can be just as successful as her. Seriously, what is better than women supporting each other!?
